NATIONAL TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
- Became the 14th USMNT goalkeeper to earn double-digit caps when he made his 10th appearance and kept a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw vs. Uruguay on June 5, 2022 in Kansas City.
- Has been part of four Concacaf Gold Cup rosters, helping the USA win the confederation title in 2013, 2017 and 2021.
- Earned his first cap in competition and made three saves in 1-0 win against Costa Rica in the Gold Cup group stage on July 16, 2013 in East Hartford, Conn.
- Rides a 767-minute shutout streak into the 2022 FIFA World Cup, having conceded just one goal during his international career, which came eight minutes into his international debut – a 1-1 draw with Chile on January 22, 2011 in Carson, Calif.
- Played one match for the USA in its successful Concacaf qualifying campaign for the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup and was part of the final roster for the tournament in Egypt that fall.
2022 FIFA WORLD CUP QUALIFYING
- Did not see any action during qualifying, serving as a reserve for five matches and was on the roster during each of the five qualifying windows.
CLUB HIGHLIGHTS
- Completed his 13th MLS season in 2022, appearing in all 34 regular season matches, keeping a career high 14 clean sheets for New York City FC and earning his first MLS All-Star selection.
- Backstopped NYCFC to the 2021 MLS Cup Final at Portland Timbers, where after the sides played to a 1-1 draw he made two saves in the penalty shootout to help the club claim its first title and earn MLS Cup MVP honors in the process.
- Prior to the 2017 season, was traded from the Chicago Fire to Atlanta United, before being dealt again to New York City FC.
- Made 176 career appearances for the Chicago Fire from 2010-2016, helping the club to the 2012 MLS Cup Playoffs.
- Selected in the fourth round of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the Chicago Fire and made his debut at age 21, back-stopping the team to a 3-2 win at the LA Galaxy – for whom current USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter was playing -- on Aug. 1, 2010.
- Played two seasons of college soccer at the University of Central Florida from 2007-08.
PERSONAL
- Parents Everet and Joy Johnson are both of Jamaican descent.
- Serves on the Executive Board of MLS Black Players for Change
- Was a three-year letter winner in soccer and basketball at Brookwood High School in Snellville, Ga., the same high school as USMNT teammate Walker Zimmerman.
- Adopted two brother and sister cats, Neo and Sky, when they were six months old.
- If he wasn’t playing professional soccer he’d either pursue his dream of driving in a sports car series or having his own fishing charter.
- In his free time, enjoys playing various card games and showing off his strong ping pong skills.
- Favorite food is sushi.
