CP MNT Claims 4-2 Win Against Colombia to Close out Friendly Series with Three Victories
Goals from Jacob Crumbley, Adam Ballou and Brace by Wes Pincince; John Sullivan Adds Two More Assists; Team Finished Week with Third Straight Win over Colombia in Preparation for 2025 IFCPF Copa America
BUCARAMANGA, Colombia (August 14, 2025) - The U.S. Men’s Cerebral Palsy (CP) National Team claimed a 4-2 win over Colombia Thursday morning to complete a three-game sweep of friendlies this week at Estadio Alvaro Gómez Hurtado.
Jacob Crumbley and Adam Ballou each tallied before the break, and second half substitute Wes Pincince notched the game-winning and securing goals late in the match. John Sullivan, who assisted Frankie Lowery’s game-winner on Sunday, started up top and added two more assists on each of the first two goals. Shea Hammond added an assist to go with goals in each of the first two games, and Lowery also added an assist on Pincince’s clinching tally.
The game marked a milestone for Adam Ballou, who became the third CP MNT player all-time to reach 90 career caps. And he marked it with his first goal since 2019, and 32nd all-time.
The entertaining game saw six combined goals, Colombia coming back from a two-goal deficit, and the USA re-taking the lead late. It also saw both goalkeepers make fantastic saves.
Colombia’s Daniel Otero was a handful for 60 minutes. He nearly put his team ahead in the sixth minute with a well-placed free kick low under the jumping wall, but USA goalkeeper Marc Estrella made a spectacular save, diving to his left to deny the attempt.
The USA went ahead not long after, when Lowery - starting in midfield instead of his customary left back spot - found Sullivan near the left endline. Sullivan invited a mark and dropped back a subtle pass that Crumbley one-timed past Colombia goalkeeper Jesús Cantero for his ninth international goal.
Sullivan then combined with Ballou for a beautiful goal, which started at midfield. Ballou took possession and locked eyes with Sullivan to his right, so he threaded a ball down the channel between two defenders. Sullivan won the ball inside the box and played it back to Ballou near the penalty spot for the one-time finish. It was Ballou’s first goal since the 2019 IFCPF World Cup in a group stage win over Finland in Spain.
Colombia, however, did not give in. Estrella had another fantastic foot-save off another Otero attempt. The Colombian forward finally beat the USA defense, receiving a ball at the top of the box and placing a nice shot to the right of the U.S. goalkeeper.
Otero then leveled for Colombia midway through the second half in similar fashion, this time placing a ball to the right side netting to draw even at 2-2.
Lowery nearly put the USA ahead with a well-taken direct free kick, but Cantero met the moment with a diving stop near the upper corner.
The USA then re-took the lead with five minutes remaining, when Pincince ripped a powerful shot off the underside of the crossbar. The center referee initially said to play on, then saw the nearside assistant referee who confirmed the ball had bounced in before rebounding outward.
Pincince then put the game away in stoppage time, taking a diagonal ball from Lowery into the box from the left before hitting another strong shot past Cantero.
The USA will hold a domestic camp in September before departing for the IFCPF Copa America in Uruguay in the first week of October.
