With the 4-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland on June 29, the U.S. Women’s National Team made history. Not only did the team win to remain undefeated against Ireland and record its fourth straight shutout – the USWNT also earned a momentous 600th victory in program history.
While hundreds of USWNT players contributedto the lead-up to No. 600, this victory Sunday was accomplished with a lineup of 10 players with 10 caps or fewer heading into the match. Lynn Biyendolo, the starter with the most appearances, earned her 82nd cap and scored the opening goal. The average starting cap without Biyendolo was 4.1.
In 2018, the Women’s National Team recorded its 500th win. It took 124 games to hit the next hundred milestone with a 100W-7L-17D record. That includes the 2019 FIFA World Cup run to its fourth championship and a gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Overall, the team has 600 wins, 74 losses, and 91 ties. In an incredible feat, the Americans hold the highest winning percentage of any international sports team with 84 percent. On home soil, the Americans are 354W-24L-37D with a 90 percent win rate.
In total, the program has tallied 41 wins in World Cups, which includes four World Cup Championships (1991, 1999, 2015 and 2019). It also captured five Olympic gold medals (1996, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2024) with a totalof 33 wins at the Summer Games.
As the USWNT celebrates 40 years, legends like Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, Kristine Lilly, Christie Rampone, Julie Foudy, Carli Lloyd, Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, Becky Sauerbrunn and many, many more helped the Women’s National Team reach this marker.
In the last 100, Lindsey Heaps (83), Emily Sonnett (70), Crystal Dunn (67) and Rose Lavelle (57) are active players who significantly contributed to the latest win record. Lavelle played in both the 500th and 600th winning matches.
