ATLANTA (July 17, 2025) –The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team will participate in the 4 Nations Tournament in Mexico City from July 26-Aug. 1, taking on Canada (July 26 at 9 a.m. local / 11 a.m. ET), Costa Rica (July 29 at 9 a.m. local / 11 a.m. ET) and host Mexico (Aug.1 at 11:15 p.m. local / 1:15 p.m. ET). Each country will face each other once in the round-robin competition that features doubleheaders on all three match days.
Due to the change in Concacaf qualifying format for the 2025 FIFA U-17 WWC, the United States, Mexico and Canada did not face each other during the World Cup qualifying process, making these matches even more valuable on the road to this fall’s World Cup in Morocco, for which all four of these teams have qualified. All 4 Nations games will take place at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento-CAR in Mexico City, the FMF’s High Performance Center.
“We’re excited to face these teams in this first iteration of a U-17 4 Nations Tournament,” said U.S. head coach Katie Schoepfer. “It’s an excellent opportunity for us to continue our group’s development against top Concacaf competition and play games that matter away from home while we prepare for the upcoming challenges of the World Cup.”
The USA is coming off two full international matches against Japan in June played in Kansas City, and these three upcoming games are a part of the continuing focus on the U.S. Way philosophywhich emphasizes increased programming for Youth National Teams to create more opportunities for young players to advance through the pathway to the senior National Team with the goal of representing their country at a world championship. These will be the sixth, seventh and eighth international matches of this year for the U.S. U-17 WNT.
Schoepfer, who led the U.S. to a third-place finish at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, the best finish for the Americans at the competition since the inaugural tournament in 2008, has named 20 players to the roster for these three matches. The roster features five players currently enrolled in college and 15youth club players. It includes only six players who played against Japan in June as 12 players return from the squad that swept three matches with a commanding 17-0 score margin during the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Final Round Qualifiers to earn the USA a berth to the World Cup.
January 1, 2008, is the birthday cutoff date to be eligible to participate in this year’s FIFA U-17 WWC. Eighteen players on this roster were born in 2008. Defender Melia Brewer has a 2009 birthday, and midfielder Loradana Paletta is the youngest player on the roster who was born in 2011.
