The U.S. Men’s National Team is set to face Costa Rica in the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup Quarterfinal.
The two nations will match up in the knockout round on Sunday, June 29 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis (7 p.m. ET on FOX).
The USMNT came out on top of Group D, beating all three opponents — Trinidad and Tobago, Saudi Arabia and Haiti. The Americans only conceded one goal while putting up eight, including five in the first match.
Meanwhile, in Group A, Costa Rica finished second behind Mexico. Their head-to-head match Sunday night ended in a draw, and both teams had seven points, but Mexico scored one more goal in the group stage.
Costa Rica and the United States have sparred 42 times in history. The USA holds a 19-17-6 record over the Central American nation. They last met in March 2022 for a FIFA World Cup Qualifying match, where Costa Rica won 2-0, hosting the United States in its capital city, San Jose.
Four USMNT players from the 2022 meeting are on this Gold Cup roster: Tyler Adams, Luca de la Torre, Miles Robinson and Walker Zimmerman. While there have been several fresh faces on this squad, it’s been an opportunity for players to ultimately make their case for the 2026 FIFA World Cup roster. Midfielder Malik Tillman has taken full advantage in making his mark. Tillman scored three goals in the three group matches, which is tied for No. 1 across the entire tournament. Forward Patrick Agyemang is just behind him with two goals, tied for second.
If Tillman, Agyemang and company advance past Costa Rica, they’ll move on to the semifinals on July 2, while the champion will be crowned on July 6.
