ATLANTA (June 23, 2025) —Twenty-four players have been called up to the U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team training camp to be held from June 24-July 1 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The upcoming camp functions as part of the Federation's U.S. Way philosophy which emphasizes increased programming for Youth National Teams to create more opportunities for young players to advance through the pathway to the full U.S. Women’s National Team with the goal of representing their country at a world championship.
This roster is made up of players who were born in 2005 and were not part of the team that competed at the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship in Costa Rica. As players born in 2005 are too old for the next FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2026, this training camp serves as an opportunity for them to continue developing within U.S. WNT programs with hopes of moving along the pathway to U.S. U-23 WNT and beyond.
University of New Mexico assistant coach Karley Nelson will run the camp. Nelson was on the coaching staff for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Team that finished third in the tournament.
Seven players on this roster have played for the USA in a FIFA Youth Women’s World Cup: Valentina Amaral, Mia Bhuta, Charlotte Kohler, Melina Rebimbas, Victoria Safradin, Sammy Smith and Taylor Suarez. Suarez also competed at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
Midfielder Amy Lopez, a Dallas, Texas native, is the only professional on the roster as she plays in Liga MX Femenil for Chivas de Guadalajara.
The squad features 17 players from the U-20 WNT’s training camp in May, and 17 colleges are represented. Ohio State, TCU, and Virginia each have two players on the roster, and Stanford has four: Smith, Bhuta, midfielder Shae Harvey Kohler. Harvey also represented the USA at Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers for the U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team in 2022.
