Seven players in U.S. Men’s National Team Camp named MLS All-Stars
The 2025 MLS All-Star Game will be played July 23 at Austin FC’s Q2 Stadium; MLS All-Stars will take on All-Stars from Mexico’s top league Liga MXBy: Sandy McAfee
Seven players in United States Men’s National Team camp competing in the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup were named MLS All-Stars on Wednesday evening.
Patrick Agyemang (Charlotte FC), Max Arfsten (Columbus Crew), Sebastian Berhalter (Vancouver Whitecaps), Alex Freeman (Orlando City SC), Diego Luna (Real Salt Lake), Miles Robinson (FC Cincinnati) and Brian White (Vancouver Whitecaps) were given the honor. They will have the chance to join other MLS stars as they take on the best from Mexico’s top soccer league Liga MX on July 23 in Austin, Texas for the annual MLS All-Star Game.
Patrick Agyemang, Charlotte FC
The selection represents the first for Agyemang and for Charlotte FC in the club's four-year existence. The 24-year-old was one of two players selected to the All-Star roster by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.
The 6-foot-4 forward is on track to match, if not improve, his career bests for Charlotte FC. This season, he’s scored six goals in 16 matches to keep Charlotte FC hovering close to the playoff line. In 2024, Agyemang finished the MLS season with 10 goals and five assists, helping the Queen City qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs.
Agyemang is finding his form on the international level, too, becoming a formidable attacking option for head coach Mauricio Pochettino. Agyemang has scored the most goals (5) for the U.S. Men’s National Team this year – the latest was the game-winner against Haiti that ensured the top spot in Group D for the United States.
Max Arfsten, Columbus Crew
The Columbus Crew drafted Arfsten in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft after he made a statement in MLS NEXT Pro playing for San Jose Earthquakes II, and the Crew won the MLS Cup during his rookie season and Leagues Cup in 2024. This year, the midfielder is logging important minutes yet again, contributing three goals and three assists. As one of the most efficient players in MLS, Arfsten has earned the trust of Columbus Crew head coach Wilfried Nancy, and last year the club signed Arfsten to an extension through the 2027 season.
As one of 12 players selected by All-Star head coach Nico Estévez, the Fresno, Texas native will be just a few hours from home for the MLS All-Star Game in Austin. He recently played at Q2 stadium, the site of this year’s All-Star Game, for the U.S. Men’s National Team during the Gold Cup group stage match against Saudi Arabia on June 19. Arfsten played a full 90 minutes as the United States earned a gritty 1-0 shutout victory to continue their Gold Cup run.
Sebastian Berhalter, Vancouver Whitecaps
Sitting atop the Western Conference, Vancouver Whitecaps FC leads the league with four All-Star selections. One of those is 24-year-old Sebastian Berhalter, who will be making his MLS All-Star debut alongside club and national teammate forward Brian White.
Berhalter has been elevating his game, showing his quality as a chance creator on both the club and international levels. The midfielder has contributed four assists to the first-place Whitecaps and most recently delivered the free kick that led to the lone goal scored by Chris Richards in the United States’ 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia during the Gold Cup group stage.
Notably, Berhalter made his USMNT debut three games earlier in the friendly against Switzerland on June 10. The son of former U.S. international and USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter, the Berhalters became the seventh father-son combination to play for the U.S. Men’s National Team.
Alex Freeman, Orlando City SC
When longtime MLS great Dax McCarty added Freeman to his list of players most deserving of an All-Star selection, voters listened. Freeman was one of four USMNT selections voted to the All-Star Game by fans, media and players — and for good reason. Freeman is a stellar defender, anchoring an Orlando City side that is sneaking close to a top-four spot in the Eastern Conference table.
The young fullback is growing into a reliable defender for Pochettino as well. The son of Super Bowl champion Antonio Freeman, he started all three matches for the United States in the group stage of the Gold Cup tournament, becoming just the second USMNT player 20 years or younger to do so. The future looks incredibly bright for the 20-year-old out of Baltimore, Maryland as he makes his debut on the All-Star roster.
Diego Luna, Real Salt Lake
We recently watched Luna shine during the U.S. Men’s National Team opening match of the Gold Cup, where the creative playmaker bagged two assists and nearly scored en route to the USA’s first of two straight clean sheets, a 5-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago. The reigning MLS Young Player of the Year earned international attention in Concacaf Nations League earlier this year and has only continued that this summer.
Seeing Luna show out on the global stage reflects his club performance in 2025. In 16 matches, Luna has recorded eight goals in club play, already surpassing his total from the 2024 MLS season, and added four assists. The voters rewarded him, and at 21 years old he’s the second-youngest player at USMNT camp to be selected as an MLS All-Star.
Miles Robinson, FC Cincinnati
It’s nothing new to see Robinson chosen among the best in Major League Soccer. The center back has made a name for himself on the club level going back to his time with Atlanta United where he was named to the MLS Best XI in 2019 and was a finalist for Defender of the Year in 2021.
Now, Robinson leads a strong FC Cincinnati side that sits No. 2 in the Eastern Conference with a 10-5-3 record at the All-Star break and will certainly challenge for the Supporters’ Shield in the back half of the season. As an Estévez selection, this will be the third time in his career the 28-year-old Robinson has been named to the MLS All-Star roster.
Brian White, Vancouver Whitecaps
As one of the longest tenured MLS players on this list, White knows how to fill up a stat sheet. The forward has scored 71 regular season goals in MLS during his eight-year career and has recorded double-digit goals in four of his five seasons in Vancouver.
And his fifth season in Vancouver may be the best one yet. He’s already scored 10 goals on the season in 12 matches played, averaging just under one goal per match, and he’s currently tied for fourth in the Golden Boot race, just three goals back from the leader, Philadelphia Union’s Tai Baribo.
