The match against Switzerland represents the sixth time the USMNT will face a Top 20 opponent since Berhalter became head coach in 2019.

The lone win of the series came on Oct. 17, 2007, when Michael Bradley’s late goal handed the USMNT a 1-0 victory in Basel.

The teams also met in their opening match of the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Eric Wynalda’s 44th minute free kick pushed the USMNT to a 1-1 draw at The Silverdome in Pontiac, Mich. The result gave the team its first point at a FIFA World Cup since 1950.

Tonight’s match comes nearly 31 years to the day of when the USMNT and Switzerland met in their final warmup match prior to the 1990 FIFA World Cup, also in St. Gallen. Bruce Murray scored the lone goal for the U.S. as Switzerland won 2-1.
