NaTIONAL TEAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Earned her first Senior National Team call-up in 2017 at the age of 16 but did not make her debut until November of 2020, when she became the first players born in the 2000s – and the first player born after the historic 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup – to earn a cap for the USWNT.
  • Smith was named the 2022 BioSteel U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, capping off a remarkable calendar year in which she led the USWNT in scoring with 11 goals, was voted NWSL MVP, won the NWSL Championship and was voted the Championship Game MVP.
  • Smith is just the fifth player to win both U.S. Soccer’s young and senior Player of the Year awards after being named Young Female Player of the Year in 2017.
  • Started all five matches for the USA at the 2022 Concacaf W Championship - and scored twice in the USA’s 5-0 group stage win over Jamaica – helping the USA qualify for both the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics.
  • Scored a hat-trick against Uzbekistan on April 9, 2022 at 21 years and 242 days of age, becoming the fifth-youngest to score a hat trick in USWNT history.

PREVIOUS WORLD CUP EXPERIENCE

  • Scored three goals and added one assist for the USA at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in France.
  • Appeared in all three matches for the USA at the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

CLUB HIGHLIGHTS

  • Drafted No. 1 overall by Portland Thorns FC in the 2020 NWSL College Draft, but saw her professional debut delayed due to injury and the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Had a stellar second full season in the NWSL in 2022, scoring a club single-season record 14 goals for Portland, finishing second overall in the golden boot race and becoming the youngest player in league history to win MVP honors at the age of 22.
  • Led Portland Thorns FC to the 2022 NWSL Championship and was named MVP of the Championship Game.

PERSONAL

  • Daughter of Kenny and Mollie Smith.
  • Has two older sisters, Gabrielle and Savannah. Savannah was an all-conference basketball player at Northern Colorado.
  • Played two seasons at Stanford University and helped lead the Cardinal to the 2019 NCAA Championship before for-going the remainder of her collegiate eligibility to turn pro.
  • Played youth soccer for Real Colorado where she was coached by now Jamaican Women’s National Team head coach Lorne Donaldson.
  • Enjoys reading, spending time with family and interior design.
