NaTIONAL TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
- A consistent presence in the midfield and regular captain for the USWNT, Horan made her USWNT debut in 2013 and has tallied at least one goal for the USA every year since 2015, the longest such streak by any player currently on the team.
- One of two players to start every game for the USA at the 2022 Concacaf W Championship, helping the USA qualify for both the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics.
- Horan had six goals and five assists in 2021 and was named the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, which made her just the fourth player to win both the U.S. Soccer Female and Young Female Player of the Year awards, the latter of which she won in 2013.
- Horan became the 41st player in USWNT history to reach the 100-cap milestone, doing so in the USA’s second group stage game of the delayed Tokyo Olympics against New Zealand where she also scored.
- A two-time Olympian, Horan made her Olympic debut in 2016 and helped the USA to bronze in 2021.
PREVIOUS WORLD CUP EXPERIENCE
- Made her World Cup debut at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, where she had an excellent tournament, making six appearances, scoring in the group stage wins over Thailand and Sweden and tallying assists against Thailand and in the semifinal against England.
- A key player on the 2014 Under-20 Women’s World Cup team … Started all four games for the USA, playing every minute and was the team’s leading scorer on the with three goals and one assist.
CLUB HIGHLIGHTS
- Made history as the first American female player to sign a professional contract straight out of high school, traveling to Europe to play for Paris Saint-Germain in July of 2012 soon after her graduation.
- Played for PSG through the end of 2015 before returning to the USA and signing with Portland Thorns FC in the NWSL.
- Played for the Thorns from 2016-2021, collecting NWSL MVP (2018), NWSL Championship Game MVP (2017) and NWSL Best XI (2018) honors, while also leading the Thorns to the 2017 NWSL Championship and two NWSL Shields (2016, 2021) during that span.
- Returned to France in Janaury of 2022, joining Olympique Lyon on loan and later that year, along with fellow USWNT teammate Catarina Macario, helped Lyon win the 2021-22 UEFA Women’s Champions League, becoming the fourth and fifth Americans to hoist the trophy.
- In 2023 she helped lead Lyon to its 10th Coupe de France Féminine title, where the team beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 in the final on May 13, as well as the club’s 16th Division 1 Féminine league title, tallying five goals and two assists along the way.
PERSONAL
- Daughter of Linda and Mark Horan, she has one brother, Mike.
- Her father, Mark, runs 100-mile ultra-marathons and is her inspiration.
- She loves to BBQ with her family and spend time in the Colorado outdoors.
- Her favorite club is Arsenal and her favorite player of all-time is Lionel Messi.
